Fraternity & Sorority Life Graduate Assistant
The Fraternity & Sorority Life Graduate Assistant role is a live-in position, working in the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. In partnership with the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, the primary responsibility of the GA will be to have direct oversight of either the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) or the National Panhellenic Council (NPC). Regular evening and weekend hours are required with formal hours arranged with the supervisor. The Fraternity & Sorority Life GA reports to the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life. This position requires on-call hours that will be rotated with other Graduate Assistants within the Division of Student Life. This on-call rotation includes being on duty from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and requires the GA to check in on all Student Life programming events each night, maintain representation in Red's (the on-campus University Pub) and troubleshoot any concerns with the on-campus shuttle service. GAs are on duty Monday-Sunday. All weeks where a GA is on duty, they are to report to their respective office from the hours of 1-4:30 p.m. The Fraternity & Sorority Life GA must take two graduate courses each term. This position is contingent upon acceptance into a graduate program at the University and is renewable for up to two years.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct oversight of either the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) or the National Panhellenic Council (NPC). This includes but is not limited to: all things related to recruitment, leadership development, programming, anti-hazing education, budget expenses, all trainings, formals, and socials.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with Chapter Presidents of either the IFC or the NPC, as well as the IFC or NPC President.
- Attend weekly council and executive board meetings of either the IFC Board or the NPC Board.
- Create content - both digital and in print - to promote the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life to current and prospective students.
- Participate in University events to educate interested parties about the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. This includes but is not limited to: all Orientation sessions, Admitted Student Days, Open Houses, Family Weekend, etc.
- Participate in all Student Life-sponsored events, including but not limited to: President's Gala, Senior Week, Spring Concert, etc.
- Supervise approximately eight work-study students and assist in the coordination of work-study scheduling.
- Serve duty hours, evening events, and service supervision on a rotating basis with other GAs.
- Coordinate the following events, specific to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life: Academic Success Banquet, Fraternity & Sorority Life Awards Night, Greek Week, National Hazing Prevention Week, and Recruitment.
- Maintain the annual Fraternity & Sorority Life calendar with all scheduled Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and individual chapter events.
- Participate in staff and departmental meetings and development opportunities.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports as required by Director.
- Meet weekly to discuss event progress and budgeting pertaining to area of supervision.
- Assume other projects and duties as assigned by Director.
Supervision of Personnel
Will help supervise all general members of the social fraternities/sororities, as well as each organization's president and executive board, in addition to the executive boards of the IFC and/or Panhellenic Councils.
Knowledge & Skills Needed
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Extensive undergraduate experience in student programming
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
- Strong commitment to student development and a team atmosphere
- Ability to think creatively and implement new ideas to better the community
- Willingness to have fun while working
- Membership in a collegiate fraternity or sorority not required but strongly preferred
Unusual Working Conditions
Regular nights and weekends. Limited duties during winter and spring breaks.
