CHP Graduate Peer Advisor
Assisting the Graduate Student Academic Advisor, the Peer Advisor will work to strengthen student academic success initiatives offered at the College of Health Professions. The successful applicant will identify and promote campus resources of interest to graduate students, work individually and in groups with students and help with the development of workshops/presentations for students. This position will require collaboration with several CHP departments and campuswide offices to serve the needs of CHP graduate students. This position provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in academic advising and program development, while supporting fellow graduate students. The qualified candidate will represent the College of Health Professions as an exemplary student, with an ethical commitment to honesty, integrity and professionalism while maintaining student confidentiality and privacy in all matters.
Once the candidate is selected, the appointed Peer Advisor will engage in training regarding the profession of Academic Advising. The Peer Advisor will also be versed in SHU policies and procedures.
- Part-time (10 hours/week)

- Compensation: $4,000 stipend

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement programs and resources that enhance the graduate students’ academic experience – time management, organization, resiliency, wellness
- Collaborate with CHP graduate program directors and faculty, the Center for Career & Professional Development, the Center for Teaching & Learning, International & Immigration Services, etc. to build and promote programming for the CHP graduate community
- Hold weekly “office” hours, respond to student requests (by email, phone, or in person) for information or assistance regarding academic skill building, course registration, general resource utilization, make referrals as needed
- Create and be responsible for graduate student academic success social media platforms to communicate, encourage and build community
- Recruit and facilitate volunteer “Peer Educators” to specialize and support programming efforts regarding academic skill building, wellness and professional development

- Energetic and knowledgeable about the SHU campus
- Demonstrates organizational abilities
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic and passionate to best serve and support fellow graduate students
- Can prove demonstrated ability and desire to serve others in mentorship and success coaching
- Can represent graduate student interests and concerns
- At least a 2nd semester current CHP graduate student
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

Graduate Assistant for Student Experience
To support the Director of the Student Experience in the College of Health Professions by assisting with both curricular and co-curricular programming that supports student learning, engagement, and development, while reinforcing the University’s mission.
- Part-time (5-10 hours/week)
- Compensation: $2,500 stipend

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the creation and implementation of the CHP’s pre-fall program, “A Week of Wellness”
- Attend all events associated with the CHP pre-fall program
- Co-program certain events connected with the SHU WELL Living Learning Community
- Participate in the recruitment and training of the CHP Peer Advisor program & DPT Mentor Program
- Oversee, utilize, and maintain certain CHP social media platforms, used in conjunction with academic advising and general information dissemination
- Coordinate some co-curricular programs for CHP students
- Identify at-risk CHP students and refer to appropriate SHU staff/faculty
- Coordinate events (in conjunction with directors) associated with the Peer Advisor and DPT Mentor Programs
- Assist with evaluation of programs as needed (survey generation, analysis)
