The Welch Experience offers many students leadership and research positions. These hands-on opportunities provide real experience across a wide array of disciplines. You’ll be ready to share examples and stories of challenges and success in your interviews, and develop necessary skills.

Corporate Structure

The Jack Welch College of Business & Technology corporate structure is intended to provide financial support and growth opportunities to students who demonstrate an interest in the field of business and demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development. In turn, the student will gain hands-on experience, while having a direct, positive impact on the University and the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology.

Students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through projects, initiatives and events that they manage and maintain throughout the school year. These students work directly with the Executive Director of the Welch Experience and student success and various faculty members to receive support and guidance on achieving their goals.

The Human Resources Team assists in staffing events and working with all teams on meeting payroll and responsibility requirements.

The Excel Team coordinates training and testing for Excel Level I and Level II Certifications.

The Marketing Team creates marketing and promotional material for WCBT Events.

The Technology Team collaborates with the IDEA Lab, engineering, computer science and cybersecurity programs. Drone and kart races, maker fairs and 3D printer training are available.

The Accounting Team works with the University payroll office to manage student payroll and the food/beverage inventory for the student lounge, order new supplies and work with the Center for Career & Professional Development on events with the "big four” accounting firms and other accounting career events.

The Finance Team coordinates the finance & economics club, the student-managed investment club, the Finance Lab, the Fed Challenge and more.

Pre-Fall Leaders

The Mind Your Business pre-fall program is offered each August (during the week before classes begin) to incoming first-year students. The program is designed to give students a head start in the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology and the business world. Participants will meet other business students, and network with campus and community leaders.

In addition to exploring possible majors, students learn how to build teams, take golf lessons, create a business presentation, build a resume, strengthen leadership skills, dress professionally and more to prepare them for the global business world. Pre-fall student leaders provide guidance and a model to incoming freshmen students on what it means to be successful in the WCBT.
