New responsibilities will include fostering and supporting evidence-based learning

Amanda MorasSacred Heart University has promoted Amanda Moras to the role of associate provost for teaching and learning.

Moras, who resides in West Hartford, has been a faculty member at SHU since 2010. Since then, she also has held multiple administrative roles, including director of the gender and sexuality studies program. Additionally, she established the Social Justice Living and Learning Community by working directly with faculty and the office of student life.

In her new role, Moras will serve on the provost’s leadership team, working and collaborating with colleagues across the University to lead efforts that foster and support evidence-based teaching.

“I am excited to begin this new role and to have the opportunity to collaborate further with colleagues and students on continuing our tradition of excellence in teaching and learning at SHU,” Moras said.

Prior to her new position, Moras was director of the Thomas More honors program, associate dean for student success in the College of Arts & Sciences and a critical member of the dean’s leadership team.

Most recently, Moras has played a vital role in the University’s adoption and implementation of SHU Flex. The program began during the height of the pandemic to give students the flexibility of Zooming for class rather than attending in person, to slow the spread of COVID-19.
