From Every Country to Every Career: Your Journey Starts Here.
Welcome to Sacred Heart University!
At Sacred Heart University (SHU), you will become part of a diverse and welcoming community located in beautiful Fairfield, Connecticut—just a short train ride from New York City. As a growing, multidisciplinary institution, Sacred Heart brings together students from around the world to learn, grow and thrive in an inclusive, supportive environment.
No matter your background, field of study, or personal interests, there’s a place for you here.
Our students represent many countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cameroon, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Vietnam and many others.
We welcome you to join our international community. International students are eligible to apply to SHU’s graduate programs if they have completed the equivalent of a U.S. earned bachelor's degree (approximately 120 credit hours) and have had their post-secondary academic transcript(s) evaluated. (Note: Not all programs require a transcript evaluation. Please speak with your advisor for specific requirements.)
We have compiled many useful links here for our international applicants. Sacred Heart University classifies an international student as an individual who does not hold U.S. citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency (U.S. Resident Alien) and requires an F-1 student visa. This includes students who are living and/or studying outside the U.S. and students who are living and/or studying in the U.S. at the time of their application for admission.

Get the Support You Need
Studying in a new country is exciting—but it also comes with questions.
What is an American classroom like? Where will I live? How do I get around? What is it like living in Connecticut? What kind of career opportunities will I have after graduation?
Our International & Immigration Services team is here to help answer those questions as you transition to life at SHU.

International Student Experiences at SHU
So much of the work I did during my time in school in India was based in theory. When I was looking at coming to study in the U.S., I knew I wanted to attend a school that provided the opportunity to solve real-world problems and SHU gave me just that.
