CTL Support Graduate Assistant

The CTL seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support teaching development and learning support initiatives. This role offers hands-on, professional experience in a well-established, well-respected university office that offers a broad array of educational development and academic support services.

  • Part-Time (20 hours/week)
  • Compensation: $12,600
  • Location: West Campus

July 1, 2026 - May 1, 2027

Responsibilities

  • Project and Initiative Support: Collaborate with CTL staff on the planning and implementation of CTL initiatives, programs, research, and special events aimed at enhancing teaching practices and student engagement. Act as a student-leader for CTL work-study students and student participants in the new CTL Pedagogical Partnerships program.
  • Content & Resource Development: Assist in researching, drafting, and editing teaching development and learning support materials, including guides, workshop content, and communications for newsletters and the CTL website.
  • Tech Studio Training and Support: Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and students in utilizing CTL’s Lightboard and Podcast Studios, ensuring effective use of equipment and adherence to pedagogical best practices.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative and office management tasks related to CTL programs and services, support CTL student workers, and maintain organized documentation of activities and resources. Greet CTL visitors and answer questions, providing resources, or connecting to CTL staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Sacred Heart University, preferably in education, communication, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in learning and utilizing new technologies; willingness to train others
  • Interest in teaching and learning
  • Proficiency in common office technologies such as Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work a consistent in-person schedule at the CTL throughout the work week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with educational technologies or media production (e.g., video, podcasting)
  • Familiarity with instructional design, teaching strategies, or learning sciences
  • Familiarity with SHU library research databases
  • Willingness to learn new technologies to support CTL services
