Fellowships

Fellowships at Sacred Heart University offer graduate students structured opportunities to gain meaningful work experience while advancing their academic goals. Available through a variety of academic programs across the University, these fellowships place students in administrative, academic, faculty, and student support roles where they engage in hands-on, experiential learning. These opportunities are designed to build professional skills, foster leadership, and complement graduate study. Students interested in fellowship opportunities are encouraged to contact their academic department directly for program-specific information and availability.

What is a Graduate Assistant?

Graduate Assistants (GAs) provide services such as administrative and faculty support. In return, these students are eligible to receive a compensation package consisting of a tuition waiver and/or stipend; and in some cases, a housing waiver and/or meal plan. Per the Sacred Heart University Human Resources Department, employees of SHU or dependents of a SHU employee cannot obtain a GA position.

Applicants must be formally accepted into a degree-seeking graduate program prior to applying for a GA position.
