Therapists working with patients in ICU face complex challenges. The content of this webinar will guide clinicians through the process of understanding and managing adult ICU patients, from patient selection and therapeutic interventions to choosing outcome measures. This webinar is designed to inspire clinicians to reflect on and understand the clinical principles that promote best practices in the ICU and positively influence the recovery of patients.

- Identify ventilator settings on screen and summarize most common modes of mechanical ventilation.
- Identify and state function of common vascular catheters, tubes, and equipment used in the ICU.
- Describe two common types of weakness associated with critical illness.
- Discuss clinical implications of lab values and medications in ICU.
- Recognize importance of functional outcomes for patients in ICU.
- Examine therapeutic interventions as treatment options for patients in ICU.
- Identify the role of multidisciplinary team members in ICU.
- Synthesize information for use in clinical and academic practice.

Christiane Perme, PT CCS FCCM is a graduate from the Catholic University in Brazil. She is a Board Certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Clinical Specialist and a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. Mrs. Perme is the owner of Perme ICU Rehab Seminars and a Clinical Development Specialist at the Houston Methodist Hospital, where she practiced primarily in ICU for 30 years. She has published 18 articles and is coauthor in 9 book chapters. Mrs. Perme has presented hundreds of courses and lectures in the United States. She is also a world-renowned speaker with presentations in Colombia, Puerto Rico, Denmark, Russia, Brazil, Nigeria, and at the World Physical Therapy Congress in Spain, Canada and Netherlands.
