Students will visit the Salem Witch Museum, spend the afternoon exploring the town's spooky atmosphere, festive street vendors, unique boutiques, historic sites, and Halloween-themed attractions. Sacred Heart University, in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association, will host the fifth annual Walk to End Alzheimer's event. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and more than 11 million family and friends provide unpaid care for them. SHU is stepping up to help end the disease by forming teams and raising funds through Walk to End Alzheimer's, and we invite you to join us.

Join us for a performance of The Miss Firecracker Contest! Its heroine, Carnelle, is an irrepressible young woman who believes that winning the local beauty contest will restore her soiled reputation and make her somebody in her small Mississippi community. The family and friends who help her along the way are a dysfunctional bunch who tackle life in their own peculiar ways. A former beauty queen cousin, Elaina, comes to offer advice and escape from her husband and children. Elaina’s brother, Delmount, has returned home to sell the family home and provide Carnelle with another way out. Wandering into the chaos is Carnelle’s seamstress, the sweet and strange Popeye, who falls in love with Delmount. Ultimately, these characters come to understand that, even if the real you does not fulfill your hopes, you will be more at peace when you learn to define and accept yourself. Learn more.
