Sacred Heart University offers over 100+ student-run clubs and organizations to all undergraduates on campus. These clubs present students with opportunities to meet fellow students who share similar interests, to connect with faculty and staff outside of the classroom and to become more connected to the Sacred Heart community. These groups hold weekly, sometimes bi-weekly meetings, and they focus on making an impact on the campus related to their club's purpose.

Clubs

Accounting Club

This clubs offers opportunities for students interested in Accounting to explore the different career options available in the corporate world and the Accounting industry as a whole.

American Chemical Society | ACS

The student affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is very active not only in bringing science to the community, but also in bringing Sacred Heart closer to the chemical community. We bring science to the community through a project referred to as “The Science Ambassadors.”

American Medical Student Association

The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) Club seeks to engage students pursuing a future in the medical field. AMSA Club is open to all full-time undergraduate students on the pre-medical track and strives to provide students with resources that will help them gain as much experience in the medical field as possible.

Biology Club

This club works toward educating the Student Body about the many advancements in the field of biology. This education also applies to club members, as the Biology Club gives members a chance to discuss relevant topics with other students and faculty.

Business Administration Club

The Business Administration Club endeavors to create and provide an academic and social environment for students interested in business, in which they can explore career opportunities in the corporate world, increase their knowledge of current business events, and dialog about relevant business student issues.

Criminal Justice Club

Members of the club have the opportunity to meet with real criminal justice professionals, participate in tours of criminal justice facilities, and enjoy various other events related to criminal justice. While the club centers around the 3 C’s of Criminal Justice – Cops, Courts, and Corrections – the club welcomes those interested in all things crime.

Education Club

The Education Club works to provide all students with hands-on learning opportunities through organized lectures, workshops and volunteer opportunities. The Education Club helps facilitate a community-based learning environment to prepare members for their future in education and teaching. All students are encouraged to join, regardless of their academic program.

English Club

The English Club is committed to fulfilling students' interests in fine literature. The Club facilitates academic discussion, and helps to bring the Classics to all SHU students. This club is open to all students, not just English majors.

Exercise Science Club

The Exercise Science Club promotes physical activity and cardiovascular & musculoskeletal fitness. They also encourage the SHU community to engage in general fitness and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Fashion Club

This club provides students the opportunity to learn, discover, create, and expand on today's fashion in respect to trends, budget, manufacturing, merchandising, designing and any other factions of the fashion industry.

Finance Club

The Finance Club will provide members with a deeper insight into the finance world allowing for further experience outside the classroom in preparation for the future. Club meetings will include discussions about the most recent relevant topics with the use of Barron's as well as participation in the FinTron investing game. Guest speakers will come to enlighten members about real experiences and information about their respective careers. 

Marketing Club

Jack Welch College of Business & Technology Marketing Club provides a community for students interested in the field of marketing. Students will participate in activities that enrich students exposure to marketing in the real world. The club focuses on career development with many great opportunities such as creating campaigns, volunteer events, networking, and membership status with the American Marketing Association.

Math Club

The math club is open to all students interested in math and science.

Medical Imaging Student Technologists | MIST

The mission of the Medical Imaging Student Technologists (M.I.S.T.) is to foster confident and competent future radiographic technologists. This will be by promoting unity between members and the surrounding community, enriching professional and social connections, organizing fundraising/networking/educational events, and supporting of current and future students as they navigate the program. All are welcome to join in the journey!

Men Entering Nursing | MEN

Sacred Heart University’s Men Entering Nursing (MEN) Club is a safe space for all students to support and encourage men of all ages to become nurses and to exemplify the growing contributions of men in the nursing field. The club promotes the retention of men in our nursing program through collaboration and peer support. The MEN Club provides a place for men entering nursing to meet, discuss challenges, overcome barriers, and instill pride in the profession of nursing by recognizing the unique contributions they provide in healthcare both locally and nationally.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association | NSSLHA

The NSSLHA encourages professional interest among college and university students in the study of human communication and disorders, provides continuity to the dissemination of professional information and provides a vehicle for student representation in matters of professional concern.

Neuroscience Club

This club is great for those who are interested in Neuroscience in any capacity. Many of our members are in Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Communication Disorders, Social Work, Psychology, Pre-OT, Pre-SLP, Pre-PT, Pre-PA, Pre-Med, Nursing, Criminal Justice, etc. Some things that we have done previously include an Alzheimer's fundraiser, internship opportunities, guest speakers, volunteer opportunities and research fairs.

Psychology Club

The Psychology Club is open to all students interested in Psychology. The club assists Psychology majors with any questions that they might have about their major or future career options.

Public Health Club

The Public Health Club focuses on bringing awareness to public health issues and to increase the subject. They are focused on building a platform for students who are interested in Public Health.

SHU Innovate

SHU Innovate focuses on the growth and development of technology. This academic club is for students interested in Computer Science and Engineering.

Social Work Club

The club focuses on mentoring fellow students and conducting community service activities. The club interacts with the professional social work community through a variety of speakers and events that deepens the understanding of the profession. Membership in the club is not limited to Social Work students only.

Sport Management Club

The Sacred Heart University Sport Management Club is all about helping students grow personally and professionally. We provide hands-on experiences, industry connections, and opportunities to get involved with the community. Our goal is to give students the tools, knowledge and network they need to succeed in school and in the sports world.

Student Nurses Association | SNA

The SNA is composed of undergraduates enrolled in the SHU Nursing Program and is an affiliate with the National Student Nurses Association. The purpose of the SNA is to promote professional development and awareness among all students preparing to be professional registered nurses.

Women in Business Network | WIBN

We want to help women in the college of business learn about career paths and explore their passions while working with faculty members and alumnae in those fields, especially in fields with low representation of women.

Women in STEM

This club provides a supportive community where women in often male-dominated STEM fields can share experiences, challenges and strategies for success.

Best Buddies

Best Buddies works to enhance the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. Through the club's efforts, they offer events on campus for our SHU students, create relationships, work to offer social engagements, play games, and provide an environment where all who are involved can interact with and learn from each other. They hosted the first annual Midnight Madness Treasure Hunt for Best Buddies International on the SHU campus in 2009. This event provided an entire day and night of fun for our SHU students and Best Buddies members.

Break the Cycle

Break The Cycle works to end the scourges of poverty and illiteracy through service and education. The club volunteers in Bridgeport to help schools and youth programs and raises funds to build primary schools in developing countries.

EMS Club

The EMS Club hosts information sessions, events and meetings to help educate and serve the University community. Members hope to make students better prepared for life-threatening situations.

Environmental Club

The Environmental Club works to raise awareness and improve various environmental issues, including pollution, conservation and recycling efforts. The Environmental Club educates, advocates for change, collaborates with like-minded organizations, volunteers and fundraises all to promote their environmental efforts.

Habitat for Humanity

The purpose of the Sacred Heart University Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is to assist with the local Bridgeport affiliate in constructing homes, raising funds, and increasing awareness of housing issues in the community. This group provides SHU students the opportunity to rebuild the lives of those in the community and host events on the SHU campus, such as Sleep Outs, building sheds, gingerbread house creations during the holidays, etc.

PioneerVote

PioneerVote is a student-led campaign to help raise awareness of political issues occurring at the local, state and federal level. The goal of PioneerVote is to get as many students as possible to register to vote and ultimately casting their ballot. We want to make the process quick and easy, especially for students registering in Connecticut.

Relay for Life

The affiliate chapter of Relay for Life aims to work closely with the American Cancer Society in raising money for cancer treatments and research. This chapter aims to hold many fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, including an annual Relay for Life Event here at Sacred Heart University. In addition, we hope to engage the community of cancer survivors and health care workers to honor them for their bravery, determination and strength.

SHU Lemon Club

The SHU Lemon Club’s mission is to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.

Women's Political Engagement Commission | WPEC

The Women’s Political Engagement Commission (WPEC) is a bipartisan organization motivated to educate and engage women in our community. In an era of increasing polarization, we have noticed that other political and women-led clubs on campus lean one way politically, excluding an opposing view. We are a coalition of ambitious women who seek the amplification of our sister’s voices in politics and law regardless of their party affiliation.

Healthcare Informatics Club

The Healthcare Informatics Club is here to provide global networking, information and support while also enlightening members in the field of informatics before they embark on their careers.

Student Occupational Therapy Association | SOTA

The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) at SHU is a student-run association. Membership is open to all first- and second-year students enrolled in the graduate occupational therapy program. SOTA engages in educational, social, service and fundraising activities and seeks to promote Occupational Therapy. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association through attendance at their annual conferences and by representation of a student delegate elected by the SOTA members.

Physician Assistant Studies Club | MSPAS

The MSPAS Club is the official organization for PA students at SHU. The organization is run by students and includes members from each student cohort. The club is involved in all aspects of promoting student success through activities such as team-building events, wellness, community service and mentorship.

Society for Human Resource Management | SHU SHRM

SHU's chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHU SHRM) is the graduate student chapter of the National Society for Human Resource Management. The chapter provides opportunities for students interested in human resources to network on a local level. There are regular meetings with scheduled programs designed to help members learn more about HR and the real world of business.

Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Organization | SLP GRO

The purpose of SLP GRO is to aid the graduate students in the speech-language pathology program. This organization also promotes professional and personal growth and development, excellence in SLP, mentorship and community service.

Student Physical Therapy Board

The Student Physical Therapy Board is a graduate student-funded and operated organization that serves as a resource for all members of the SHU physical therapy graduate population. The board pursues continuous improvement of all aspects of the graduate physical therapy education and University life experience through open dialogue and constructive and positive interaction within all areas of the SHU community.

Graduate Student Advisory Committee | GSAC

The Graduate Student Advisory Committee, also referred to as GSAC, is an advisory organization that fosters support and interaction among graduate students, faculty, the University and community at large through intellectual and social events. It provides a voice for graduate students by embracing the academic, social, cultural and general diversity of its members.

Indian Student Union

The purpose of the Indian Student Union is to promote Indian culture and traditions, aids in welcoming new students to the university and builds a friendly and collaborative community.

Veteran's Student Association

The Veteran’s Student Association strives to educate the University community on life as a veteran as well as advocate on behalf of student veterans.

Honor Societies recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding ability in varying fields in which Sacred Heart University students can major. Their purpose is to encourage excellence in each field and to promote a greater understanding of, and appreciation of that discipline. Each Honor Society is run by an individual academic area.

Chaverim Yehudim (Jewish Club)

Chaverim Yehudim translates to Jewish friends. We plan to educate the community on Jewish culture, faith and experiences. As a group, we will create a safe place for all Jews and non-Jews to come together and celebrate Jewishness. The most important part of our group is to create a Jewish identity and relationships with other Jewish peers on campus.

Delight Ministries

Delight Ministries is a Christian women's ministry that seeks to establish a community that grows together, serves together, learns together, and does life together while chasing the heart of God. Delight is intentional about learning from one another through stories and experiences while potentially discovering or continuing to grow in relationship with Christ.

Muslim Student Association

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) is a student-led organization dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for Muslim students on campus. We provide a supportive space for social, spiritual, and personal growth through regular meetings, events and activities. Our MSA also fosters understanding and respect for diverse values and traditions through interfaith dialogue and the different cultural backgrounds of our members.

American Sign Language Club

The American Sign Language Club exposes sign language to the SHU community and provides insight on a culture that sometimes isn't as widely recognized as other languages and cultures.

Art Club

The Art Club at Sacred Heart exists in order to allow SHU students a platform to express their creativity through art while learning, sharing, and communicating with other artists. We provide a safe space in order to give art majors and non art majors the opportunity to create works of art without fear of judgment or critique.

Chess Club

College Democrats

The College Democrats pledge themselves to support the philosophy and candidates of the Democratic Party. Furthermore, the College Democrats declare its intention to support all efforts to increase the participation of college students in democratic affairs.

College Republicans

The College Republicans is an active campus organization that sponsors speakers, voter registration drives, and political debates. The Club is very active in federal, state and local elections and encourages students to become deeply involved in the American political process.

Cybersecurity Club

SHU Cybersecurity Club is an independent, student-driven club that regularly meets for self-study and tutoring sessions, participating in hacking competitions, preparing for professional certifications and working on faculty-led research projects.

Girl Gains Lifting Club

Our mission is to promote female weight lifting while empowering women to feel strong and beautiful in a judgement-free community. Whether you're a dedicated gym goer or a curious beginner, Girl Gains is here to support you in every stage of your fitness journey.

Hearts for Hope

Hearts for Hope is a student-led club dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families through kindness and support. Our mission is to bring comfort and hope by creating care packages, writing encouraging cards, and supporting local hospitals where children receive treatment. We also work to raise awareness about childhood cancer through events and activities while organizing fundraisers to provide additional resources and support. By spreading love and positivity, we aim to make a difference in the lives of young cancer patients.

Model United Nations Club

The Model United Nations Club provides an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and experience in international politics. Club members have the opportunity to grow as leaders, critical thinkers, and public speakers in a series of debates and conferences.

Nutrition & Dietetics Club

We are a nutrition & dietetics club open to everyone! You don't have to be involved with nutrition academically, it's great for anyone interested in nutrition, anyone looking to get more involved on campus, anyone who is a nutrition minor/concentration, or even has a major in any science or health related course but is open to everyone on campus! Our purpose is to connect with other organizations & clubs on campus, provide a supportive group and bring together individuals who have similar wellness goals, and bring attention to nutrition & dietetics on campus and to students.

Real Estate Club

The mission of the Real Estate Club is to bridge the gap between students and the real estate industry by fostering networking, developing talent and setting a leadership example.

To Write Love on Her Arms

The Sacred Heart chapter of To Write Love on Her Arms is in support of the nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

Film Club

Members of the film club strive to open the minds of students at Sacred Heart through a variety of films. All movie lovers and filmmakers are welcome!

Her Campus

Her Campus is the #1 global community for college students. Written entirely by college journalists, Sacred Heart's chapter of this national organization features style, beauty, health, love, life, career, LGBTQ+, and real world content, supplemented by Sacred Heart students themselves. In addition, Her Campus offers programming, tools, and events to fulfill it's mission of serving college students across every platform.

Short Filmmakers Club

The Short Filmmakers Club strives to create a space where students can learn about all aspects of filmmaking through a hands-on approach and sharing practical knowledge. Whether joining for general interest, experience or connections, the club offers a multitude of benefits, especially opportunities that foster valuable relationships and community.

Sports Media Club

The Sports Media club is a great way to get involved if you love talking about sports. We do podcasts over zoom which get uploaded to iTunes and YouTube. The sports media club will help those students who want to get involved. And there’s more to the club than just on camera! You can work behind the scenes as editor and producer of the podcast. 

The Pulse

The Pulse is a student-produced video news magazine that showcases University and local community stories. The program serves as a shining example of student creativity and talent. The Pulse website

The Spectrum Newspaper

The Spectrum is the student-run newspaper on campus that is published weekly during the semester. The staff covers issues pertaining to students, upcoming events, sports and pop culture. Spectrum website

Pre-Dental Club

Sacred Heart's Pre-Dental Club is a club for those who wish to make it into dental school or have a passion for dentistry. Students get information about the preparation of an application to dental school.

Pre-Law Club

The Pre-Law Club assists students interested in pursuing a career in law, preparing for exams and providing networking opportunities.

Pre-Occupational Therapy Club

This club's purpose is to provide pre-OT students with information about the graduate program, volunteer opportunities and mentorships.

Pre-Physical Therapy Club

The club's aim is to provide pre-PT students with information about the graduate program, volunteer opportunities and to set up a mentorship with graduate-level students.

Pre-Physician Assistant Club

The Pre-PA club helps students learn more about the occupation, interact with current physician assistants and prepares them for exams and other requirements for physician assistant schools.

Pre-Veterinary Club

Sacred Heart's Pre-Veterinary Club is a club for those who wish to make it into veterinary school or who simply like animals. Students get information about the preparation of and application to veterinary school.

Public Relations Student Society of America | PRSSA

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. PRSSA offers students professional development, networking opportunities, internship and job listings and news on the latest industry trends.

Air Force ROTC

Take your college experience to the next level and develop into an officer and leader in your career field!

Army ROTC

Army ROTC instruction provides leadership training that enables students to excel in any career field in the military, government, or the private sector.

Residence Hall Association | RHA

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is modeled after a nationwide organization for student resident hall leaders known as the National Association of College and University Residence Halls. Members have the opportunity to participate in regional and national conferences and meet residents from other institutions who share a passion and desire to develop inclusive and respectful communities.

Student Events Team | SET

Part of Student Government, the Student Events Team is the largest programming board on campus. Holding multiple events per week, SET works to provide students with a variety of social events to attend. All students are encouraged to join!

Student Government

The Student Government serves as the representative voice of the SHU student body to the faculty and administration. Students can become involved through their class boards, various organizations and other committees.

Asian American Pacific Islander Club | AAPI

The Asian American Pacific Islander Club was established to support students of AAPI heritage as well as allies. It is the club’s goal to create a safe place in which students of different backgrounds can come together to connect, inspire and have difficult conversations that improve social awareness in the SHU community and beyond.

Black Student Union

The purpose of the Black Student Union is to serve as a liaison primarily between students of African descent (and other minorities) and faculty and staff within in SHU community. The Black Student Union provides the opportunity to gather and exchange ideas and experiences that students can use to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of how to best serve the community they represent.

Gender Sexuality Alliance | GSA

The GSA's vision is to create a diverse community where LGBTQ+ students feel welcome and supported in embracing their sexual and amorous orientations and gender identity. The GSA provides intentional and trauma-informed spaces for students to come together and learn about different LGBTQ+ identities, experiences and stories.

Italian Club

The purpose of the Italian club is to foster understanding and appreciation of the Italian and Italian American culture through lecture, social activities and film. Previous events hosted by the Italian Club included an Italian feast, an Italian coffee house and a trip to Little Italy in NYC.

La Hispanidad

This organization gives students interested in Spanish and Latino heritage the opportunity to get together, exchange ideas and become acquainted with one another. Moreover, La Hispanidad helps develop relationships and acts as a liaison between SHU and the Spanish community.

Lambda Delta Xi

Lambda Delta Xi is the first Greek-lettered service organization on the east coast of the United States that is dedicated to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. The organization holds the distinction of being neither a fraternity nor a sorority, but rather a 'diaternity,' which means transcending boundaries.

Portuguese Union

The Portuguese Union’s mission is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of Portuguese traditions, history and contemporary issues through cultural events, language practice and community outreach.

Respect the ABILITY

Designed to foster a culture where all people are treated with equality, dignity and respect and have equal opportunities to participate in a community where abilities, rather than disabilities, are recognized. The organization provides support in social aspects, as well as provides a means to educate the SHU community, to have a better understanding of disabilities through exposure, awareness and interaction.

Slavic Club

The Slavic Club aims to bring together the Sacred Heart University community by promoting Slavic culture and traditional customs, including Polish, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Russian, Slovakian, Czech, Slovenian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Serbian, North Macedonian, Bulgarian and all other Slavic cultures.

Ukrainian Club

The Ukrainian Club allows Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians to gather and learn about the beautiful Ukrainian culture. Through fun activities, informational presentations and introducing Ukrainian traditions, the club enhances our SHU community's awareness of Ukrainian values and heritage.

Unity Council

The mission of the Unity Council is to enhance the experiences of all SHU full-time undergraduate students through council-sponsored events each semester and co-sponsored events with various cultural clubs.
