Upload Your SHUCard Photo

The University ID Card (SHUcard) is your passport to Sacred Heart University.

It provides you access to facilities across the campus and allows you to obtain services from dining locations, the University Bookstore, student and athletic events, laundry locations, printing/copying and more.

When picking up your SHUcard, you must present a government issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID or Tribal ID).

Uploading Your Photo

  1. Review the photo guidelines below and assure your photo meets all of the requirements
  2. Select Upload Your Photo
  3. You will be prompted to sign into Blackboard TransAct. Sign in with your SHU credentials.
    • Your username is your SHU email address
  4. Once logged in, select "Profile" in the top left corner
  5. Select "Submit a new photo"
  6. Drag and drop your selected photo

You will receive an email if your photo was approved.

Photo Criteria

Submissions must meet the following criteria to be accepted:

  • Example of a good ID photo (see list above for requirements)Color photo (original digital copy)
  • Must be current (taken within the last 6 months)
  • Must be forward-facing, showing the head and top of the shoulders, like a passport photo
    • You do not need to have a passport photo taken
  • Background must be solid, smooth, and white, light-colored or gray
  • A natural or neutral expression/smile
  • Features, including eyes and face, must be clearly visible
  • The maximum size of the photo is 1MB

Submissions with the following criteria will not be accepted:

  • Scanned, photocopied, or pictures of images
  • Professional photos/senior portraits
  • Selfies
  • Wearing hats or head covering (unless those items are worn daily for religious purposes, and in such cases those items must not obscure any facial features)
  • Wearing sunglasses or scarves
  • Use of any filters to alter the photo
  • Photos taken outside

Uploaded photos must meet the SHUcard Photo Requirements If they do not meet the requirements, you will receive an email explaining why your photo was not approved.

Don’t worry! You can still upload another photo.

Tips

  • Remember to choose your photo carefully. It will serve as your identity photo for the entire time you are at SHU and be viewed by all. Requesting a reprint for vanity reasons will result in purchasing another card
  • Submitting a photo other than your own is fraud. University policies regarding fraud will be enforced.
