Exploratory LLC

Student Advising & Success

The Exploratory Living & Learning Community (LLC) is designed for students who are exploring their academic interests and identifying their goals. In this community, you will live and learn alongside peers who are navigating similar questions about majors, careers and purpose. Focused on building strong academic foundations, this LLC provides a structured and supportive environment that helps students adjust to college expectations while developing confidence, clarity and direction. Through intentional programming and mentorship, students are empowered to proactively explore options, seek support and begin carving out their path at Sacred Heart University.

Exploratory LLC Experience

Programming is coordinated through Student Advising & Success and led by student success coordinators who serve as instructors and mentors. Students are guided as they navigate major and career exploration, academic expectations, personal responsibilities and campus life.

Through this program, you’ll explore:

  • Academic and career exploration
  • Community, belonging, identity and purpose
  • Connection to the SHU community
  • Academic skills, time management and organization
  • Motivation, goal-setting and self-advocacy
  • Campus resources and student success strategies

What you’ll experience:

  • Workshops and informational sessions focused on major and career exploration
  • Signature programs such as SHU Lingo, “How to SHU,” Student Planning & Advising (SPA) training, Calm the Cram and vision board nights
  • Career exploration programs and wellness partnerships
  • Early and ongoing introductions to key campus support offices
  • Connection with advisers, faculty, peer mentors and student success coordinators

This LLC serves as a bridge to long-term success, encouraging students to build lasting relationships with Student Advising & Success, the Center for Career & Professional Development and other campus resources throughout their four years. Students gain practical tools and confidence that support academic success from day one.

Cost

$350/semester

How to Apply

Students must complete the online application by June 11, 2026. In addition to the application, students must complete the University Housing Application.

Housing Information

Students may request a roommate; however, all residents of the Exploratory LLC must apply and be individually accepted into the program. Room assignments are determined by the housing staff, and requested roommates must also qualify for and be accepted into the Exploratory LLC.
