Sacred Heart University’s Living & Learning Communities (LLC) offer first-year resident students an engaging and supportive transition to college life.

LLCs intentionally connect classroom learning with residential life, bringing students with shared academic interests and goals into a close-knit residential community.

Dedicated faculty and staff lead Sacred Heart’s LLCs, providing mentorship, guidance and ongoing support as students navigate their first year and beyond. Each student in a Living & Learning Community takes a one-credit academic course per semester, designed to support first-year success through reflection, discussion and shared experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Students in an LLC must actively participate by attending scheduled sessions, engaging in community activities and completing assignments.

Beyond the classroom, LLCs are designed to be fun, engaging and community-focused, giving students opportunities to build meaningful connections, form lasting friendships and create memories that define their first year on campus.

Students apply for admission to an LLC, and those who are accepted gain access to exclusive programs, resources and opportunities that help build friendships, foster belonging and support academic and personal growth. Experiences may include discussions, films, service-learning projects, field trips, social events and more.

Applications open mid-April and are due June 11, 2026.
