Student Events Team

The Student Events Team (SET) is an organization dedicated to enhancing the Sacred Heart University student experience through hosting, planning and executing weekly campus events, large-scale traditions and signature experiences that bring the community together. SET provides full-time undergraduate students with meaningful opportunities to get involved, develop leadership skills and build lasting connections through a wide range of exciting events hosted weekly on campus.

Purpose/Mission

The mission of SET is to design, plan and execute innovative programs that enhance student life and foster a strong sense of campus pride and belonging. Through collaboration, creativity and dedication, SET aims to:

• Plan, host and execute weekly events and major university traditions that unite the SHU community
• Engage students through diverse events that promote community, entertainment and wellness
• Empower student leaders to initiate ideas, manage events and grow as professionals through hands-on experience
• Inspire campus spirit by creating memorable experiences that leave a positive and lasting impact on the student body

Event Planning & Execution

As part of SET, you’ll gain hands-on experience planning and delivering weekly events and beloved SHU traditions. This includes:

• Developing creative concepts that resonate with the student body
• Overseeing budgets and vendor relationships
• Coordinating logistics, staffing and event production

Marketing & Communication

SET members learn how to strategically promote events through social media, flyers and peer engagement to maximize attendance and excitement.

Project & Team Management

With dozens of events each semester, SET offers real experience in managing timelines, delegating tasks and leading teams.

Adaptability & Resilience

Event planning teaches you to pivot quickly, manage challenges in real time and remain solutions-focused.

Problem Solving & Innovation

You’ll learn to approach challenges with a proactive mindset and think creatively to enhance the student experience.
