Winter Break
Winter Break Late-Stay Sign-up is Now Available
Any student who needs to stay in SHU housing between Sunday, December 14, 2025, and Wednesday, December 24, 2025, must register for fall semester late-stay housing by Monday, December 8, 2025.
All students are required to leave within 24 hours of their last final or by 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 14, unless they require fall semester late-stay housing. Further closing information will be sent to you directly from your residence hall director. Please make sure you read these emails in their entirety.
Any student requiring fall semester late-stay housing (December 14-24), please read the information below:
- Students are only permitted to remain on campus for University-sanctioned reasons.
- University-Sanctioned Reasons: Academics (University-approved internship), graduate student, winter varsity athletics, approved campus work (email is required from your supervisor confirming your need to stay), Performing Arts obligations during December 14 and 15 only
- All winter varsity athletes must sign up individually
- If you must stay for a scheduling conflict, there is a $50 per day charge that will need to be paid directly to the Residential Life. Please email Gregory Madrid at madridg@sacredheart.edu for approval, details and any additional information. Payment will need to be made via cash or check (payable to Sacred Heart University) by December 12, 2025, or your late stay will be cancelled.
- To register to stay late, fill out the Residential Intersession Form. You will know if your submission has been received when you receive an automated email with a summary of your break housing request. If you do not receive a confirmation, be sure to check your spam folder. If there are any questions about your request, you will be emailed directly. Otherwise, you will receive an email on December 9, 2025, with relevant information pertaining to your late stay. Please do not email asking if you are approved.
Move in for all students for the spring 2026 semester is Monday, January 19, 2026. If you need to come back early for the spring semester (December 25 or later), do not use the above online form. An email regarding early arrival for the spring semester will be sent the week of December 15.
Note: Not all services on campus (SHUttle, dining, etc.) are fully functional during the break period. Public safety is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The University is closed Wednesday, December 24, 2025, through Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Information Regarding Early Arrival will come out on Monday December 15, 2025.
Important Dates for Fall 2025 Semester
- Monday, December 8: Last day of classes
- Tuesday, December 9 - Saturday, December 13: Final exams
- Sunday, December 14: Residence halls close for winter break at 10 a.m.
Important Dates for Spring 2026 Semester
- Monday, January 19: Move-in begins at 10 a.m.
- Tuesday, January 20: Classes begin
- Monday, January 29: Last day to add/drop
- Saturday, February 28 - Sunday, March 8: spring break
- Residence halls close at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, and reopen at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 8
- Monday, March 30: Last day to withdraw from a class
- Friday, April 3 - Monday, April 6: Easter break (residence halls remain open)
- Monday, April 27: Last day of classes
- Tuesday, April 28 - Monday, May 4: Final exams
- Tuesday, May 5: Residence halls close at 10 a.m. for summer break
