Graduate Physician Associate Program Clinical Rotation

The graduate PA clinical rotation in Uganda is open to second-year physician associate students. The global health clinical rotation in Uganda, managed in collaboration with Makerere University will provide students with the opportunity for multi-level global health clinical learning, with an emphasis on cultural competence and interdisciplinary learning in a resource-poor, challenging environment. Participants will engage in rotations at Mulago Hospital and St. Stephen's Hospital.

Physician Associate Program

By the end of the global health clinical rotation, the PA student will be able to: 

  • Describe the social determinants of health in the area and their effect on the health status of the patients, families, and communities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and provision of care for common conditions endemic to the area and awareness of factors that contribute to outcomes
  • Describe challenges to health care in limited-resource settings, and outline possible solutions
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide culturally competent care that respects and integrates local tradition, practice, and beliefs
