Online English Teachers – For adults, teenagers and children in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Minimum four hours per week (including prep time), primarily weekends and evenings. Teach classes via Zoom and use other social media to engage students in extra activities (songs, videos, readings, etc.) Groups of one to four students. No experience necessary. Just a desire to talk, teach and learn about other cultures. Beginning to advanced levels.
Health, nutrition, exercise and crafts – Make simple videos for children, youth and adults in communities in Nicaragua and Costa Rica that teach them how to make simple art and crafts projects, or talk about health and show simple exercises and stretching. Videos can be in English or Spanish. We will add subtitles and share them with different community groups we work with.
Web/graphic design/video editing and social media – Help us update our existing web page, edit videos for our YouTube channel, create flyers, educational materials, eye catching posts and announcements for our social media accounts.
We are looking for students to submit reflections on these community engagement experiences – in essays, photography, audio, or video format. These reflections will then be promoted through SHU media platforms and will serve to highlight the important work provided by members of the SHU community, and more importantly, advocate for and raise awareness of our partners.
