Sacred Heart University has earned a place on TIME’s inaugural list of America's Best Colleges of 2026–2027, a national ranking designed to help students and families identify colleges that deliver meaningful value and strong outcomes. The recognition places SHU among institutions across the country recognized for preparing students for success during college and beyond.
Developed in partnership with the data research firm Statista, the ranking evaluates colleges based on three primary factors: student outcomes, learning environment, and attractiveness to students. TIME created the list as students and families increasingly evaluate the return on investment of a college education and seek institutions that can provide both a transformative student experience and a strong path to future success.
SHU's inclusion reflects the University’s commitment to providing students with a personalized educational experience grounded in academic excellence, hands-on learning, and career preparation. With more than 200 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and certificate programs, Sacred Heart equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to make an impact in their professions and communities.
“To be recognized among the best colleges in the country affirms what our students experience every day,” said SHU President John J. Petillo. “This distinction reflects our commitment to student success, from the classroom to career, and to preparing graduates who are ready to lead with purpose.”
The recognition comes amid continued momentum for the University, which has earned national distinction for student outcomes, campus life, and academic quality from a variety of organizations. At SHU, students benefit from close faculty mentorship, experiential learning opportunities, strong career preparation, and a vibrant campus community designed to support their growth both personally and professionally.
