Poster by Healthcare Informatics Alum Is a Winner
New England society awards SHU student first place among members across six states
Sacred Heart University alum Srija Srinivas Nadipineni ’22 has won first place in a poster competition conducted by the New England Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
Nadipineni is from Vijayawada, India, and she obtained her bachelor’s degree in dentistry in that county. She earned her master’s degree in healthcare informatics from SHU.
The HIMSS is a global adviser, thought leader and member-based society, committed to reforming the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology. Its mission is to reform global health through the power of information and technology. The New England Chapter recently held its annual spring conference, which included a student poster competition to showcase student research.
“The healthcare informatics faculty and I are very proud of Srija and her recent win in the NE HIMSS student poster contest,” said Stephen Burrows, director of healthcare informatics at SHU. “Her accomplishments represent her hard work and dedication, as well as our faculty’s focus on student success.”
Nadipieni’s study addressed “implementing artificial intelligence in breast cancer diagnoses.” She included a research article on the subject in her capstone project under Burrows’ guidance. “I am involved in this topic, as nowadays many women are suffering from breast cancer and, by this research article, I want to present that prevention is better than a cure,” Nadipineni said.
“I am very happy and fortunate for having such a well-experienced and knowledgeable professor to guide me. Without the help and support of Dr. Burrows, winning would not have happened, so I am very thankful for him,” she said.
