News Site Poets&Quants Ranks Business College Among the Best
Data that was pulled from alumni survey and other factors bring recognition
Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) has again earned a place among the best undergraduate business schools in Poets&Quants for Undergrads, an online source for undergraduate business education news.
Accredited by both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and the New England Commission of Higher Education, the WCBT prepares its students for success in the global business environment through student-focused teaching and experiential learning. Recently added programs in growing fields such as business analytics and sales lead students to varied careers. Moreover, the School of Computer Science & Engineering, integrated within the business college, offers undergraduate programs in fields such as game design and development, cybersecurity, electrical engineering and more.
“We are honored to have been recognized by Poets&Quants again this year,” said Martha J. Crawford, WCBT dean. “Our faculty and staff take pride in helping to prepare our business and technology students with the competencies they need to become strong leaders in today’s fast-changing world. The Jack Welch College of Business & Technology has instituted many innovative approaches over the past year to keep our students thriving and learning, even during these challenging times. We will continue to strive to offer our students the most comprehensive educational experience in our newly renovated West Campus.”
West Campus, SHU’s center of innovation, is the revamped former global headquarters of General Electric. Its state-of-the-art facilities include a large makers space called the IDEA Lab, as well as dedicated cybersecurity, finance and artificial intelligence labs.
The WCBT recognizes the importance for business majors to be comfortable in a multicultural environment and places great emphasis on globalization. Each business major has specialized international and global coursework, and have opportunities to study abroad at the WCBT’s Luxembourg campus.
Students involved with the WCBT do internships at a wide array of companies, including Food Network Magazine, Goldman Sachs, General Electric, NBC Sports & Olympics and New York Life Insurance Company. Students can also intern with start-ups located in the West Campus iHub, a large co-working facility created via a strategic partnership with Verizon.
“The Poets&Quants recognition is a result of the faculty and staff’s dedication to providing students with an excellent academic experience and ensuring a positive career outcome for all our graduates,” said Khawaja Mamun, associate professor and associate dean of the School of Computer Science & Engineering.
Poets&Quants based its 2021 ranking on a survey of more than 6,100 alumni and reported data compiled from 93 schools. Factors that determined these rankings included faculty availability, extracurricular opportunities and accessibility of the alumni network.
