New, Distinguished Faculty Join Welch College of Business & Technology
New professors cover accounting, tax compliance, programming and other subjects
Sacred Heart University’s renowned Jack Welch College of Business & Technology has brought in several new faculty members to aid its mission of educating future leaders and preparing them to succeed and make positive contributions to their communities. In today’s evolving and complex global business environment, these faculty members will support students as they develop ethical reasoning skills, data and technology literacy, an entrepreneurial mindset and global perspectives.
Huijue Kelly Duan, assistant professor, accounting

David Beck, visiting professor, accounting
Teaching responsibilities: Accounting
Personal fact: Beck won a bronze medal at the junior Olympics for swimming when he was 10 years old
Paul Iannone, clinical associate professor, accounting
Teaching responsibilities: Financial accounting and reporting, managerial accounting, individual tax compliance, business entity tax compliance and tax research
Personal fact: Iannone owns a 1931 Ford model A cabriolet
Eman Abdelfattah, assistant professor, computer science
Teaching responsibilities: Machine learning, programming languages, database design

Okechukwu Ugweje, associate professor, computer science & engineering
Teaching responsibilities: Introduction to data structures, sensors and robotics, analog circuits with lab
Personal fact: Ugweje enjoys watching soccer in his spare time
Chris Mavrides, visiting instructor, computer science

Syed Muhammad Ishraque Osman, assistant professor, finance

Personal fact: Applying machine learning to address social issues in a data-driven way is an endeavor close to Osman’s heart
Claudio Schapsis, visiting assistant professor, marketing
Teaching responsibilities: Marketing, digital advertising, international marketing, social media and special topics on marketing
Personal fact: Schapsis is fluent in three languages and has an accent in all of them
Shiyun Tian, assistant professor, marketing
Teaching responsibilities: Social media marketing, digital marketing, integrated marketing communications and promotion
Personal fact: Tian loves rose fragrance and wants to collect all of them
Kristina Hoff, assistant professor, sport management
Teaching responsibilities: Sport venue and event management, sport sponsorship, sport finance
Personal fact: Hoff played on the women’s soccer team at Catawba College before earning her master’s and doctorate at the University of Georgia
Petru Dorin Micu, assistant professor, marketing
