Get ready for a weekend packed with fun, food and family time

Sacred Heart University is rolling out the red carpet for its annual Family Weekend, inviting students and loved ones to come together for a celebration packed with campus traditions, school spirit and family fun.

Here’s what you can expect:

From live entertainment to athletic events and special campus activities, the weekend is filled with ways to experience the Pioneer lifestyle.

Friday, September 26

3-9 p.m. Check-In
Welcome SHU Families! Pick up your name badge at Family Weekend check-in, this will serve as your ticket to all registered events. Check-in will be held in the Presentation Room, located on the first floor of Linda McMahon Commons.

3 p.m. Field Hockey vs. Wagner College
Come cheer on our field hockey team at Johnson Field (70 Central Ave, New Haven, CT 06515) as they take on Wagner College!

4-8 p.m. Red’s Happy Hour
Admittance to those who are 21+ only with a valid ID. No exceptions.

5 p.m. Big Red Bingo*
Join the Student Events Team at the crowd favorite Bingo with great prizes and a guarantee of 10 games per session! Due to the popularity of this event, you must attend the time slot you signed up for (each person is limited to one card).

5 p.m. Fraternity & Sorority Life at SHU
Come meet members of Fraternity & Sorority Life at SHU and learn what it means to be part of the community!
 
7 p.m. Big Red Bingo*
Join the Student Events Team at the crowd favorite Bingo with great prizes and a guarantee of 10 games per session! Due to the popularity of this event, you must attend the time slot you signed up for (each person is limited to one card).

Come cheer on our women’s volleyball team as they take on Quinnipiac

7:30-10 p.m.  Family Weekend Kickoff*
Start the weekend off right by connecting with fellow SHU families in a laid-back, welcoming setting, complete with lite bites and drinks to enjoy! This is a great opportunity to unwind, mingle and toast to an exciting Family Weekend ahead.

Join us before kickoff for an energetic outdoor celebration featuring a variety of local food trucks, music, games and fun! Each ticket includes three food tickets per person, redeemable at any participating food truck! Whether you're craving savory bites or sweet treats, there's something for everyone to enjoy! This event is alcohol-free.

10:45 a.m. SHU Marching Band Skull Session
The SHU Marching Band performs a 30-minute concert before every home football game and then will make their way up to Campus Field!
Amphitheater Steps
12 p.m. Pioneer Football vs. Delaware State*
Let's go Pioneers! Cheer on your Pioneers as they play the Delaware State Hornets! General Admission. SHU Students must be registered for this event.

12 p.m. The Outpost
Tickets to the Outpost will be open on a first come, first served basis the day of for football ticket holders. Once it hits capacity, admission will be closed.

1-4 p.m. Shuttle to Silverman’s Farms
Hop on the shuttle and head to Silverman’s Farm to enjoy a fun fall afternoon! Featuring apple picking, pumpkin patches and a country market! The shuttle will do continuous loops to campus

2-5 p.m. Live Music and Cider
Stop by the Pioneer Pavilion in your free time to enjoy some live music and grab some apple cider!

3 p.m. Campus Feud: Family Edition*
Get ready for an afternoon of laughter, friendly competition, and a little bit of rivalry at the survey game show, a twist on the classic game show Family Feud! Join fellow families as you face off in teams to guess the most popular answers to general trivia questions for prizes.

4 p.m. Men’s Soccer vs. Merrimack
Come cheer on our men's soccer team as they take on Merrimack!

6 p.m. Dance Program Family Weekend Showcase*
This performance will feature SHU Dance Company, SHU Dance Ensemble, SHU Claddagh Dancers & SHU Inception Dance Crew offering a sneak peek into several new works to be featured in our upcoming fall season of dance.

This concert will feature SHU Choirs offering a sneak peek into several new pieces to be showcased in our upcoming fall season. This is a free event but registration is required.
