Conference offers students, SHU community a chance to engage with scholarly research

Sacred Heart University faculty presented their research to the University community at the eighth annual College of Arts & Sciences Conference (CASCon).

The annual conference emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of faculty scholarship and reaffirms the college’s commitment to undergraduate research. The event also highlights the depth and breadth of faculty research and offers students the chance to get involved in their professors’ work.

This year a number of CAS faculty across the humanities, social sciences and sciences gathered in the Martire Center for the Liberal Arts to discuss their ongoing projects. The presentations included a wide range of topics including Laudato Si', the papal call for sustainability, Irish poetry, civic engagement and disinformation, human trafficking, and scientific and psychological findings.

Participating departments and/or schools were biology, Catholic studies, chemistry & physics, communication & media, languages & literature, political science & global affairs, psychology, social work and sociology, criminology & criminal justice.
