    Welcome to Professors Shannon Pranger and Mary McDonough

    Shannon Pranger, MSN, RN-BC, CEN, CNE, CHSE, EMS-I

    Clinical Assistant Professor | First Professional Degree Program 

    Shannon PrangerProfessor Pranger is a graduate of Fairfield University (1994) and has been working in the St. Vincent Medical Center (CT) Department since 1995; she is currently employed there as a per diem nurse.

    Pranger has taught in nursing simulation and labs, and she holds multiple certifications, including nurse educator and ER nurse. She is also a simulation specialist and EMS instructor. She currently teaches foundations of nursing and pharmacology for first professional degree students.

    A life-long Connecticut resident, Pranger resides in Trumbull with her husband, two sons and dog. She is a long-distance runner who has completed two full marathons and a dozen half marathons!

    Mary R. McDonough, PhDc, MSN, RN

    Clinical Assistant Professor | First Professional Degree Program

    Mary R. McDonoughProfessor McDonough is a graduate of Boston College (2014) and has a master of science degree in nursing education from Framingham State University (2017).  She is currently a PhD candidate at Endicott College in Beverly, MA, where she is studying the lived experience of a dyad after experiencing fetal death (pregnancy loss over 20 weeks gestation).

    McDonough’s clinical practice has included labor and delivery and postpartum at Beverly Hospital, Newton Wellesley Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  A Boston native, she and her husband relocated to Connecticut for her to teach in the DHCON. McDonough teaches foundations of nursing, care of the childbearing family, pathophysiology and transition to professional nursing for first professional degree students.

    A fun-fact is that McDonough and her siblings have all been skydiving together!
