The student who completes the major in Theology & Religious Studies will:

  • Demonstrate an ability to interpret primary texts—scriptures or other classical documents from a religious tradition—in a scholarly fashion.
  • Describe the ethical doctrines and practices of a religious tradition.
  • Exhibit an understanding of a religious tradition, including its doctrines, practices and methods of reasoning.
  • Conduct substantive research on a question in theology or religious studies, and articulate and defend an argument based on this research.
