Carla MonteiroCarla B. Monteiro is a Black Cape Verdean American woman who fiercely advocates for social and racial justice. She is committed to promoting equality, equity and inclusion through various avenues, such as clinical practice, research, education, policy, advocacy and community engagement.

Carla is a licensed independent clinical social worker and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor I. She is the manager of clinical programs and workforce development at the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center. She is also an emergency psychiatric clinical social worker at Boston's Children's Hospital and a social work vendor for the Committee for Public Council (CPCS).

Carla has extensive experience working with migrants, incarcerated individuals, homeless populations, those facing food insecurity and those dealing with substance use and mental health challenges. She holds degrees and certificates in human services, substance use counseling, trauma and social work. Carla is an active member of multiple boards and advisory committees. She serves on the Opioid Recovery and Remediation Fund Advisory Council (ORRF) in Massachusetts and the Jewish Vocational Services Policy Committee. Carla is also a National Association of Social Workers (NASW) MA-Chapter board member and an at-large delegate for the NASW Massachusetts Slate.
