The Criminal Justice Internship Course, CJ 390, may be a 3 credit or a 6 credit course depending on the hours committed. This is a practicum. Students are assigned to work in a criminal justice agency. The site may be a public or private criminal justice agency. Students may choose the area in which to intern. The internship supervisor would then seek an appropriate placement.

Experiential Learning Through the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice

Sacred Heart University criminal justice undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice, an experiential learning initiative that connects students with individuals who have experienced the criminal justice system.

Through dialogue and collaboration, students gain deeper insight into incarceration, corrections, rehabilitation, and criminal justice policy. These immersive experiences encourage students to examine justice issues through multiple perspectives while strengthening their understanding of policy, law, and reform.

The Frederick Douglass Project for Justice complements classroom learning by providing students with opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations, reflection, and applied learning experiences related to the criminal justice system.
