FAQs for Au Pairs

You can apply for the program by completing our Visiting Student Application. You’ll also need to upload a copy of your J-1 Visa, your passport and the DS-2019 form.

If eligible for the program, you will be invited to an orientation that will include class registration. Note: You may only take undergraduate, on-campus courses within this program.

You are eligible for any in-person first-year, 100 or 200 level courses in a subject area of your choosing, that do not require any prerequisite courses.

You may take classes in the fall and spring terms.

To activate your SHU email, visit the SHU Account/Email Activation step by step instruction page.

You can upload your Visa via your applicant portal. After logging in, scroll down to the bottom of your portal and use the drop-down box under ‘Upload Materials’ to upload a copy of your J-1 Visa.

Log into MySHU and click ‘Courses’ in the menu on the left-hand side.  

To obtain your SHUCard, upload a photo and pick up your ID at the Campus Concierge, located in the academic center on the Park Avenue campus, 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield, CT 06825.

Classes for Au Pair Visiting Students cost $100 per credit (maximum 6 credits).
