WSHU Classical Music Production Assistant
What happens behind the scenes at a public radio station to play music on-air and online? How does WSHU foster connection through music across Connecticut and Long Island? Be part of the team who makes it happen as a WSHU Classical Music Production Assistant.
Candidates will be:
- Curious about classical music and musicians
- Excited about details with down-to-the-second specificity
- Committed to regular weekly hours
- Comfortable working independently and speaking up with questions as they arise
All work takes place in person at WSHU Public Radio. There is not a remote work option.
Responsibilities
- Audio editing, including editing excerpts from podcasts for broadcast on air
- Researching and organizing information about upcoming concerts by performing arts organizations in Connecticut and Long Island
- Assisting the Music Production department in preparing daily classical music programming
- Maintaining organization in the CD library
- Preferred qualifications, though not required:
- Working towards a music degree at SHU
- Familiarity or open to learning Adobe Audition software

WSHU Office Assistant
WSHU Public Radio is looking for students to assist with general office duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist with mailings and research projects
- Make phone calls to WSHU donors

Expected Hours
Flexible hours between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., preferable days are Tuesdays and Fridays; 3-4 hours/day, 1-2 days a week
Engineering/IT Assistant
Assist engineers with computer maintenance, helpdesk.
Responsibilities
- Software installation and configuration, and network troubleshooting
- Should be familiar with Microsoft Office and Windows Operating systems.
- Under the direction of the engineers provide support to office and production personnel with day to day operations and maintenance of the WSHU computer systems including installation, setup and configuration
Expected Hours
5 hours per week
WSHU Music Assistant
This person will assist the music director/music department. All work is done in the WSHU Broadcast Studio on campus. Candidates should be reliable and detail-oriented. Some knowledge of classical music is a plus but not necessary. Number of hours and schedule are flexible.
Responsibilities
- Locate and file CDs in the music library
- Light database entry and cleanup
- Other tasks as assigned by music director
Expected Hours
5 hours per week
WSHU Development Associate
WSHU Public Radio is looking for students to support the development team in their fundraising efforts with mid and higher level donors.
Responsibilities
- Assist with mailings
- Make thank you calls to WSHU donors
- Assist with research projects
Job Requirements
- Personable, professional phone manner
- Knowledge of excel and word; will train as necessary
Expected Hours
Flexible hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., preferable days are Mondays and Wednesdays; 3-4 hours/day, 1-2 days a week
Production Assistant
Assists with production department with light production work.
Responsibilities
- Loads music
- Quality control - check sound files
Job Requirements
- Familiarity with classical music and/or instruments
- Familiarity with Adobe Audition or other editing software
Expected Hours
Up to 10 hours per week or TBD - based on class schedule
