SCMA Office Assistant

Office assistant will handle organizational and clerical support tasks. This may include organizing files, receiving guests and more, depending on the department needs. Assistant will work closely with department Graduate Assistant in organizing SCMA events.

Responsibilities

  • Greet incoming students and guests
  • Assist with clerical needs including performing database management, drafting correspondence, sorting mail, and taking inventory
  • Collaborate with department Graduate Assistant on departmental events

VR/AR Lab Specialist

The VR/AR Lab Specialist will support the brand new NeXReality Lab on SHU's West Campus by learning about the equipment and software used by the lab, managing equipment in the lab, assisting students, supporting special events, and producing VR and other media content related to the lab and the Immersive Media and Mixed Reality major.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with our cutting edge VR/AR equipment and software
  • Facilitate student work in the lab
  • Manage equipment inventory in the lab and do necessary organization, cleaning and setup of the lab before classes
  • Assist with special events related to the lab
  • As hours allow, produce VR/AR content, as well as written/visual materials to promote the lab and the related IMMR major and build their web and social media presence. (**In the event of the need for a remote work environment, some of the focus will shift to this aspect of the position.)

TV Studio Assistant

The TV Studio Assistant will help to maintain the TV studios in the Martire building. The TV Studio Assistant will clean and adjust cameras, confirm proper settings on control panels and fix minor problems. This is a hands on position that will take place in the TV Studios and will NOT be able to be performed remotely.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have prior TV studio experience and have taken a TV Studio class. Students will work independently in the studio each week. 

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintain cameras
  • Making sure the control room is zeroed out before the next class comes in
  • Clean and organize the studios

Location

This position does not offer remote work

Equipment Room Associate

The Equipment Room Associate will be responsible for checking in and out cameras, lighting, and other media equipment for the School of Communication, Media and the Arts (SCMA) students. Associates will also be responsible for cleaning of equipment and organization of the equipment room.

Responsibilities/Job Requirements 

  • Checking in and out cameras and other equipment
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Making minor repairs and logging any damage
  • Cleaning and organizing of the equipment room

Spectrum Research and Office Assistant

The position requires close work with the Spectrum editors and with the faculty advisor. Major tasks include researching topics for Spectrum's Audrey Award and coordinating contributors for content; supervising the manager of circulation to ensure smooth functioning and problem-solving for distribution; researching grammar/wording issues and maintaining the style guide for use by editors; other projects as needed by the Spectrum board or faculty advisor; remote work is available for several of these responsibilities

Film & TV Master of Arts Work Study

The work study individual will maintain and operate FTMA HQ spaces including (but not limited to) production labs, Sound Stage, kitchenette and popcorn machine maintenance. They will be responsible for assisting FTMA Lead GA with other film-related duties and events as assigned.
