Teaching Development Support Graduate Assistant

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support teaching development initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in educational development, instructional technology and faculty support services. 

  • Part-Time (20 hours/week)
  • Compensation:
    • $10,000 tuition waiver
    • $2,600 stipend
  • Preferred Program: Education or Communications

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instructional Resource Development: Assist in researching, drafting, and editing teaching development materials, including guides, workshop content and communication pieces for newsletters and the CTL website
  • Tech Studio Training and Support: Provide training and support to faculty, staff and students in utilizing CTL’s Lightboard and Podcast Studios, ensuring effective use of equipment and adherence to pedagogical best practices
  • Project and Initiative Support: Collaborate on the planning and implementation of CTL initiatives, pilot programs, research and special events aimed at enhancing teaching practices and student engagement
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks related to CTL programs and services and maintain organized documentation of activities and resources

Knowledge & Skills Needed

  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Sacred Heart University, preferably in education, communication, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in learning and utilizing new technologies; willingness to train others
  • Interest in faculty development, teaching practices and instructional innovation
  • Experience with educational technologies or media production (e.g., video, podcasting)
  • Familiarity with instructional design, teaching strategies or learning sciences
  • Familiarity with SHU library research databases
