Sustaining Hearts Scholarship
What is the Sustaining Hearts Scholarship?
Funded by a $150,000 grant from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Sustaining Hearts Scholarship provides support to academically and financially eligible students completing their bachelor’s degrees in nursing.
The grant funds $5,000 scholarships to 30 juniors and seniors, in line with the foundation’s mission to “identify and fund outstanding nonprofits to ensure that people of all backgrounds in the United States can build healthy, productive and satisfying lives.”
Who is Eligible for the Sustaining Hearts Scholarship?
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of the United States, a foreign national having in his/her possession a visa permitting permanent residence in the United States or a non-citizen national
- Be enrolled full time as a junior or senior student in the First Professional Degree Nursing program at the Dr. Susan L. Davis, RN, & Richard J. Henley College of Nursing
- Maintain predetermined academic standards of Sacred Heart University’s College of Nursing (including GPA of at least 3.0 and in good academic and professional standing)
- Have demonstrated financial need
Special consideration will be given to applicants who are:
- Bilingual
- First generation college students
- Military/Veterans
- From a racially, culturally or socio-demographically diverse background
