Welch Experience Powered by Suitable
All events and professional development opportunities that are developed by the Welch Experience are integrated with our official digital student engagement platform Suitable. At every event, students will scan a Suitable QR code to let their professors (and future employers) know how they are developing as professionals throughout the school year. All students within the Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) can log in to the mobile application or go online to find:
- Upcoming professional development activities going on in the WCBT
- Digital badges or achievements that can be completed to post on LinkedIn and get access to exclusive corporate visits, speaker events, and more
- A professional scorecard or portfolio containing all professional development activities students have completed, grouped by competencies defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) to be essential in success post-graduation
- Professional vocabulary to transform your WCBT experiences into data-driven stories to share during interviews
We recommend every student in the WCBT download the official Suitable app to their mobile device to use the program most effectively. Scan the QR codes to log in with your official SHU email and password and gain access.

Digital Badging
The Welch Experience created digital badges that students can earn throughout the academic year for professional development within and outside of the WCBT. These badges can be posted on LinkedIn to share with employers and often lead to exclusive Welch Experience events that can define your collegiate career. Below are some examples that demonstrate how these badges can be completed during a Welch College student’s academic tenure:
Welcome to the Welch Experience–can be completed as early as New Student Orientation! Download the app, find your scorecard, and read a Welch Announcement to get started.
Finance Networking Expert–Previously, students completed this badge by attending an exclusive corporate visit to JP Morgan Headquarters in New York City. Students also needed to join the Finance & Economics Club, read some news about the company, and connect with Handshake through the Center for Career & Professional Development. Requirements subject to change for future trips.
Welch Winter Warrior–Students can complete this badge during the winter session, between academic semesters, to work on professional development even when they are not at school! Work on LinkedIn Learning Courses, use the library database to do research, and work on your profiles to demonstrate your commitment to development even on break.
Tee Off with Welch!–Students who completed this badge were given access to the annual Welch Cup Classic golf tournament. By attending golf lessons, explaining the significance of networking, and connecting with alumni, students could get the badge and play with professionals on the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.
