The Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) hosts many events featuring leading scholars and speakers from different industries, providing learning opportunities for students on the roles and challenges faced in business today.

Before deciding on a career, students should be exposed to many choices. To answer the question of 'what can I do with this major', we host monthly speakers and corporate visits to companies in our region. Through these speakers and visits, our students learn that...

  • There are many opportunities that you’ll learn about outside the classroom

Engage

Any student within the WCBT can participate in our speaker events or corporate visits. Check the weekly Welch Announcements, an email that is sent every Monday morning and lists the upcoming week’s events, and then attend. Corporate visits require an RSVP and sometimes digital badges, which can be found on Suitable.

If a professional development opportunity conflicts with your class, it always is worth asking your professor if you can attend.

Attend Speaker Events

The Conversations Speaker Series features speakers from different industries like fashion, nonprofits, engineering, accounting, finance, esports, cybersecurity, marketing, music, management, and more—in a format that is more of a conversation than a lecture. We also bring in speakers, from CEOs to other business leaders, to meet with recent graduates who are starting their first full-time job.

In addition, students have many opportunities to network with speakers and presenters who visit campus during the semester.

Corporate Visits

Through in-person trips to businesses, virtual chats with leaders, and corporate presentations on campus, you’ll learn about opportunities and company culture. We interact with companies for every major we have in the WCBT, and these opportunities are available on a first come, first served basis through the weekly Welch Announcements email or digital badging with Suitable. Follow Up

The Welch Experience takes attendance at all events, to both track our students' professional development involvement, and to ensure participants receive an email with the contact information for the professionals at speaking events or corporate visits. We do this to encourage students to follow up after these events, say thank you, and work on their networking skills.
