Annual Welch Cup Classic Golf Tournament

Each spring, we host a free networking golf tournament called the Welch Cup Classic. Each foursome is made up of one student, one alumni, one faculty member, and one employer. It is a nine-hole Scramble, followed by a barbecue lunch and award ceremony.

Golf Lessons

Golf lessons are open to students in the Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT), SHU alumni, and corporate partners. Lessons will be held at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course on Park Avenue in Fairfield, during fall and spring semesters. No sign up is required. Golf lessons take place every Thursday in September and April at 4:30 p.m., with additional dates and times added throughout the semester based on availability. They take place at the driving range at the golf course. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to meet a club professional.

Student Memberships

All WCBT students receive discounted golf all year round.  For $25, all WCBT students can become members at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course, and golf for the member rates all year.

Important Information for Golf Lessons & Play Time

  • Always bring your SHU card
  • Free golf clubs will be provided for lessons and the tournament
  • All WCBT students will get the resident rate for on-course play
