Advising & Student Success Team

The Welch College of Business & Technology’s (WCBT) professional Academic Advising and Student Success team are dedicated to supporting all students throughout their transition into the school and beyond. The team consists of three professional academic advisers who specifically advise all first-year students in the WCBT, helping them learn the student planning & advising (SPA) system, get involved in the community, and more. The team also houses the director of the Welch Experience, Cooper Rothman, and the assistant dean of student success, Sean Heffron, Ed.D.

Sean Heffron, Ed.D.

Assistant Dean of Student Success

Sean Heffron has spent over 25 years helping students discover the best versions of themselves. In addition to his role as assistant dean for student success, Heffron teaches courses like business communications, management and business skills, and business explorations. His research areas include FERPA and the link between parental communication and student success, student values on study abroad, and impactful programming for business students. Heffron is also a dynamic public presenter and enjoys teaching students how to create impactful messages when presenting, interviewing, and interacting with others in network settings. 

Outside of the WCBT, Heffron is a husband and father of three great kids, and enjoys skiing, baseball, and writing. He's published a few projects, including an upcoming three-novel series with Aethon Books.

Cooper (Samuel) Rothman, MS

Director of the Welch Experience

As the director of the Welch Experience, Cooper (Samuel) Rothman oversees student development in the Welch College of Business & Technology, whether that is leadership development through the Corporate Structure program, Welch Mentors, and Mind Your Business Pre-Fall program, or professional development by bringing Speaker Series or Corporate Visits to life. Cooper is a Fairfield, Connecticut, native who went to University of Delaware for undergrad, and West Chester University for a graduate degree in higher education policy and student affairs. At Sacred Heart, he teaches the First-Year Experience class, provides academic advising, and will start his own academic journey with the master’s in business administration program in the fall of 2026.
