Gifts of Securities
Gifts of securities are recorded on the institution's books at the same value available to the donor for tax deduction purposes. This is the mean value, the average between the high and low trading prices on the effective date of the gift. The effective date of the gift and its subsequent charitable deduction is the date the stock is credited to the account of the recipient institution.
The most popular and most efficient way to transfer securities to Sacred Heart University is by electronic transfer. For more information, please contact William A. Reidy, Vice President for University Advancement, at email@example.com or 203-371-7860.
For more information on establishing an endowment, contact University Advancement at firstname.lastname@example.org or 203-371-7860
Your company may match, double or even triple your gift to Sacred Heart University. In fact, a great number of employers will also match contributions of spouses, directors or retirees.
To find out if your company has a matching gift program, simply contact your Human Resources Office or look online at Blackbaud's matching gift finding website.
We estimate that there are thousands of dollars that are available to SHU through matching gift programs and it will only take a few more minutes of your time to multiply the impact of your support.
To begin the process, simply obtain a matching gift form from your company’s matching gift coordinator. In most companies, this person is in the Human Resources Office. Many companies also now have their forms online. Please visit our website for more details on how your employer’s program is structured.
Just a little bit of your time, can double the impact of your gift.
