Sacred Heart University—recently cited as one of the top 10 fastest-growing Catholic colleges in the country by the Chronicle of Higher Education--is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education. Its community service and theatre arts programs are in the country’s top 20, according to The Princeton Review. The education service company features SHU in its new 2018 edition of its college guidebook, The Best 382 Colleges and includes the school on its Best College Theater and Most Engaged in Community Service listings.
Social justice is a key piece of Sacred Heart’s mission, and our strong tradition of community service is clearly an expression of that. Our students think nothing of spending their spring, winter and summer breaks on mission trips, building houses and volunteering at non-profits. This recognition is well deserved.
None of these accomplishments would be possible without the generous support of our donors. On behalf of all of us at SHU, I am proud to thank – and honor – every donor. I would also like to especially thank the Forever Pioneers, our student philanthropy group, for continuing to raise record amounts of money toward student scholarships, academic colleges and other programs.
I invite you to browse the 2016-2017 Donor Report and meet some of the dedicated students whose hard work brings such spirit into our campus. They quite eloquently explain how your gifts help them and their fellow students realize their dreams. Your generosity is evident wherever you look on our growing and vibrant campus.
From everyone in the Pioneer community, many thanks for another incredibly successful fundraising year.
John J. Petillo, Ph.D.
