Welcome to Sacred Heart University’s Branding Guide. This Guide contains the brand and brand standards for SHU. It is a critical foundation for the creation and implementation of a consistent, cohesive and exciting institutional brand – a brand that will permeate everything we do from web design, web content and signage to programs, campaigns, slogans and the way we communicate with one another.

The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for you as you communicate with the Sacred Heart community – whether your audience is students, prospective students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, trustees, the press or friends of the University. I hope you will refer to it often.

Here at Sacred Heart, our primary goal is to shape graduates who are knowledgeable of self, rooted in faith, educated in mind and able to respond to an ever-changing world. We seek to be innovative and to continue to be an institution that leads the way.

These brand guidelines not only help us articulate and achieve our mission, but support the goals of our strategic plan. The standards and messages set forth in this guide will provide a foundation as we work together to distinguish ourselves in the area of academic excellence and to strengthen our facilities, infrastructure and long-term financial stability.

I thank you for the work you do every day in support of our mission, vision and goals. I am counting on you to join me also in supporting these brand standards as we are the face of a proactive, vibrant and growing university community.
