You don't want to be just a well-educated person; you want to be a well-educated person who can make a meaningful contribution to your community.
Making a contribution often means taking a leadership role, whether it's in tutoring a single child or running for an office on your local school board, whether it's planning your family's vacation or organizing the food bank at a crisis shelter. A key element of the University's mission is to prepare you to be a leader in service to others.
Each year Sacred Heart University hosts an awards ceremony to recognize members of the Sacred Heart University community who have proven themselves to be exceptional leaders. The most prestigious : one for Outstanding Involvement by First-Year, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Students, the Doug Bohn Unsung Hero Award which seeks to commend a person whose work has otherwise not attracted widespread notice, and the John Croffy Outstanding Leader Award, which commemorates exemplary leadership and service by an SHU junior or senior are presented annually.
Whatever your previous experiences with leadership, Sacred Heart University will give you the opportunities and the support necessary to reach your full potential, and to make a real difference in the world around you.
