Service Clubs

Are You Autism Aware? | AYAA
Members of AYAA work hard to raise awareness for autism on campus, as well as in the Bridgeport and Fairfield communities. Additionally, the club promotes anti-bullying and open-mindedness as two of the major themes of their mission.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies works to enhance the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. Through the club's efforts, they offer events on campus for our SHU students, create relationships, work to offer social engagements, play games, and provide an environment where all who are involved can interact with and learn from each other. They hosted the first annual Midnight Madness Treasure Hunt for Best Buddies International on the SHU campus in 2009. This event provided an entire day and night of fun for our SHU students and Best Buddies members.

buildOn is a student-run organization that work to advance buildOn’s mission to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service, raising awareness, and educational events.

Green SHU's
The Green Sacred Heart University Students or "Green SHUs" work to raise awareness and work to improve various environmental issues, including pollution, conservation and recycling efforts. The Green SHUs educate, advocate for change, collaborate with like-minded organizations, volunteer and fundraise all to promote their environmental efforts.

Habitat for Humanity
The purpose of the Sacred Heart University Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is to assist with the local Bridgeport affiliate in constructing homes, raising funds, and increasing awareness of housing issues in the community. This group provides SHU students the opportunity to rebuild the lives of those in the community and host events on the SHU campus, such as Sleep Outs, building sheds, gingerbread house creations during the holidays, etc. 

Hearts United | United by Love, Divided by Duty
Hearts United is a student club that exists for the purpose of helping veterans and active duty military personnel. The club's members engage in many activities and programs designed to assist veterans with personal needs and to provide service members stationed abroad with various amenities. The club's motto is "United by love, divided by duty." A constitution governs the activity of the club.

Peace Corps Club
The goal of the Peace Corps club is to spread awareness and knowledge about the field of international development, multiculturalism and social justice. Its members work together to support active Peace Corps members through various volunteer work such as pen pals, supply donations, etc. as well as educate other Sacred Heart students on the Peace Corps organization. 

To Write Love on Her Arms
The Sacred Heart chapter of To Write Love on Her Arms is in support of the nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
