Sean P. Riley, PT, DPT, ScD, OCS, SCS, ATC
Sean lives in Glastonbury, CT with his wife Grace and their dog Tully. Grace is a certified industrial hygienist. The family’s favorite place to go is Block Island, RI where they enjoy the beach and hiking. Sean, Grace, and Tully love to spend time outside, and they are in the continual process of bringing their house that was built in 1800 up to date.
Sean was honorably discharged from the US Army as an Infantry Sergeant after four years of service. He attended Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) from 1994-98, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education - Option in Athletic Training. Sean earned a Master of Science degree in Biology with a Health Sciences Specialization, 1998-2000 at CCSU. He then entered the UConn Physical Therapy Program where he earned a Masters Degree in 2004. Sean completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Simmons College in 2006 and his Doctor of Science from Texas Tech University in 2013. He became board certified in Orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in July of 2007 and completed his sports certification in July of 2009. He also completed training through the International Academy of Orthopaedic Medicine-US to become certified in Orthopaedic and Manual Therapy (COMT) of the Extremities in 2012.
Sean has 9 published manuscripts since 2014 and has presented his research at the national level each of the last three years. He is reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training, The Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy, Manual Therapy, and for Physiotherapy Theory and Practice. He additionally serves as a research committee member for the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists were he has served as a grant reviewer, poster presentation judge, and abstract mentor for research submissions.
