3 + 2 Exercise Science and Occupational Therapy

Exercise Science and Occupational Therapy 3 + 2 leading to the MSOT for those graduating with a BA/BS degree prior to 2022 and the 3 + 3 plan of study leading to the Doctor in Occupational Therapy (OTD) for those graduating with a BS/BA degree in 2022 or later. NOTE: The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) has mandated that the sole entry-level degree requirement for the occupational therapist move to the doctoral level (OTD) by July 1, 2027. The Occupational Therapy Program is developing its OTD program and anticipates its inaugural OTD class in the fall 2022 or fall 2023. The MSOT will no longer be offered once the OTD is implemented. As the program transitions to the OTD degree the option will change to the 3 + 3 for those who will graduate with a BA/BS degree in 2022 or later. The OTD will require 6 years of study, three years of undergraduate course work followed by 3 years of graduate course work. The ability to take advantage of accelerated bachelor’s degree option is available only to students who choose undergraduate majors in Exercise Science, Psychology, Sociology, or Health Science.
