ADAM ANDEXLER graduates in May 2012.  He is from Enfield, CT.  Adam majored in Accounting.  He has been the club tennis captain since 2009. Adam was also accepted into PHI ETA SIGMA National Honor Society in 2009 and made the Dean’s List in the Fall of 2008.

MICHAEL BARBOSA is from Sharon, MA.  An English major, he plans to graduate in 2014.

KELLEY BLIGH is a senior from Oakdale, NY.  Kelley is a double major in English and Media Studies who will graduate in May of 2012. She has been awarded into the Thomas More Honors Program. Kelley is the Editor-in-chief of Pioneer magazine and the Managing Editor of the Sacred Heart Spectrum. She is also involved as a freelance writer for EContent magazine.

JENNIFER CIARALLI is a Freshman at Sacred Heart University and is from Waterbury, CT.

ARIEL DAVID is a junior from Patchogue, NY. Ariel is an English major with a minor in History anticipating graduation in May of 2013. Ariel was awarded the Junior Pioneer Award in 2011-2012. She is planning to get her Masters degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart University.

RYAN FARRAR is a senior at Lincroft, NJ.  Ryan is an English major with a writing concentration, who will graduate in May 2012. Ryan has written for the Spectrum and Connecticut Magazine. Ryan is also an avid floor hockey player.

JACKIE FEDE is a senior at Sacred Heart University and a graphic design major. She is from Massapequa Park, NY and is an Academic Scholarship awardee. She was also recognized during the Spring Student Art Exhibit in 2011 and 2012. After graduation she plans on working as a production graphic artist at EGC Group on Long Island.

CONOR GEREG hails from Watertown, CT and is a senior English major. After his graduation in May 2012 he plans to take up a career as an English teacher in grades seven through twelve. Other than Horizons, he has been published in The Connecticut Review, The Phantom Seed, Eastern Exposure, The Bleacher Report, and The Yard Baker.

LINDSAY GUILMETTE is a senior from Burlington, CT. She will graduate this May with a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology, after which she will attend Central Connecticut State University to pursue a degree in physics.  Lindsay has received many honors here at Sacred Heart, including (though by no means limited to) the Gold Medal in Mathematics, Junior Award in Mathematics, admission into Pi Mu Epsilon Honors Society, and the first place essay in the Writing Across the Curriculum contest.

KAITLIN GUINAN is an English major from Ridgewood, NY.  She’s a member of the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society.

LAURA HARDT is an English major with a minor in Media Studies from Milford, CT. She will graduate in May 2014. Laura won second place in this year’s Writing Across the Curriculum Essay Contest.

SUJATHA HERNE is an English major in her junior year from Stratford, CT. She plans on travelling after she graduates from Sacred Heart University.

BRITTANY JANSEN is a sophomore at Sacred Heart University and a Business Major. She is from New Haven, CT.

SAMANTHA KEE is a senior from Haskell, NJ.  A Biology major, she’s a member of the Biological Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. Samantha won third place in the Writing Across the Curriculum Essay Contest. After graduation, she will be attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine for their Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences.

MAX KOSKI is an English major from Fairfield, CT.  He will continue his education at the University of Connecticut at Storrs.

JESSICA LUBY is from Windsor, CT. A May 2012 graduate, she double majored in Media Studies/Communication and English, with a concentration in writing. Her plan for the future after graduation is to be flexible and see whatever may come her way.

ERIN MACDONALD is an English major with an Irish Studies minor and plans to graduate in May of 2012. She is from Weymouth, MA and it is her intent to take a two-month cross-country road trip with her roommates after graduation. On campus she is currently the Associate Editor of Pioneer Magazine and the Perspectives Editor of Spectrum.

SAMANTHA MALACHOWSKI is from Norwalk, CT.  An English major with a writing concentration, Samantha plans to graduate in May 2014.

COLLEEN MASON is a junior from Quaker Hill, CT. She will graduate in May 2013 with a BA in English, and a minor in Philosophy. Colleen is a Team Captain of the Sacred Heart Fencing team. Collen has made the Dean’s List during her time here at Sacred Heart. She wants to join the Peace Corp after graduation.

CHRIS MASTROCOLA comes straight out of the Bronx, NY.   He is a Junior, who will graduate May 2013 with a BA in English with a minor in Music, before going for his MAT. Some of the Highlights of Chris’s academic career included making the Dean’s List, playing drum in his band Eyes to See, and a stellar athletic career as the waterboy.

BRENT MIDDLETON hails from Greenwich, CT. He is a declared English major with a writing concentration, and has minors in both Spanish and Philosophy. He is the winner of the Discovery Grant and after graduation in 2015 hopes to continue on to graduate school.

ALANA MILLER is a freshman Media Studies major. She is from Parkland, FL and a Trustee Scholarship and Performing Arts Grant Awardee. She was also on the Dean’s List in the Fall of 2011. After graduation she plans on travelling for a job in either photography or film/television.

DANIEL OTZEL is a Media Studies/Communication major from Milford, CT.  He anticipates a May 2014 graduation date.

OLGA PINSKY is a junior anticipating graduation in May of 2013. Olga has her MBA in Management and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership. Olga published her poetry book “Out of the Abyss” on August 7, 2008.

SAMANTHA PURNELL is a sophomore; she’ll graduate in 2014, and is studying Business Administration. She is from Stowe, VT and is a C.V.V. Starr scholarship awardee. After graduation she plans on traveling, taking photography, and starting her own gallery/business.

JUSTINE QUAMMIE BASSOMB is a junior from Coram, NY.  Justine is an English major in the education program anticipating graduation in May of 2013. She was also awarded the Choir Grant and plans to attend graduate school.

ASHLEY ROEMER, will graduate in May 2012 with her MAT.  Ashley earned a BA in English in 2011. Among her many accomplishments, Ashley has presented a paper at the 2011 Medieval Renaissance Forum at Plymouth State University.

ANI SARAJIAN is a Criminal Justice major from Montvale, NJ.  The winner of the Rycenga Freshman Essay contest, she plans to graduate in May 2015.

LINDSAY SEPPALA is a freshman from Long Island, NY,  where she lives with her parents and sister. She will graduate in May 2015 with a degree in Computer Science. Lindsay is heavily involved in the Theater Arts program , and has written two plays that were performed in Theaterfest. Lindsay is self-publishing her novel, which should be released on May 10, 2012.

LINDA VICHIOLA-COPPOLAis a part-time student who will graduate in December 2015. She comes from Trumbull, CT, and is an English major with a writing concentration. She enjoys painting, sculpting, creative writing and designing children’s puppets.

BRIANNA VITOLO graduates in May 2012; she is a senior English major with a writing concentration from Queensbury, NY. After graduation it is her hope to find a job and possibly go on to Graduate school. Other than her publications of both prose and poetry in Horizons, she has contributed to Pioneer Magazine and worked as the Style section editor.

MATTHEW WAGNER is a junior English major with a concentration in Education from Brookhaven, NY.  He is a member of the varsity track and field team and he even is a former record holder in throwing discus. He graduates in May 2013 and plans to be a teacher.

GABRIELLE WASHINGTON hails from Mesa, AZ and is an English major with a writing concentration and a minor in music. She earned a full basketball scholarship and this year was recognized as Rookie of the Year and achieved her second team all NEC and a place on the All Rookie team. Her plans after graduation in 2015 include pursuing a career as a published songwriter.

DOMINIQUE WEIGEL is a freshman at Sacred Heart University and an English major. She plans on joining the education program as well. Dominique is from Lisbon, CT and an Education Scholarship awardee. She is a Division 1 Fencer at Sacred Heart and after graduation she plans on interning for a year and then moving to Virginia to teach.

JULIA ZIOTO is from Beverly, MA.  Julia is a Social Work major and is planning on working as a social worker in the foster care system after graduation.


MELISSA COLE is a senior, graduating in May 2012, and an English major (writing concentration) with a double minor in Media Studies and Sociology. She is from South Royalton, VT native and a member of Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Eta Sigma Honors Societies, as well as several clubs on campus. She will be continuing her education by studying at Stony Brook to get her Ph.D. in Sociology.

KATELYN NEWMAN is a senior, graduating in May 2012 with a degree in English, writing concentration. She is a Colts Neck, NJ resident who plans on serving at Due Process Country Club this summer. Katelyn is also a proud supporter of Autism Awareness for her younger sister Samanatha.

JUTIPORN PROMTONG is from Bangkok, Thailand.  She’s living in Fairfield, CT. She will graduate in May 2012 with a MS in Computer Science.  She is a part-time web developer.

DEANNA STOCKER is a junior, graduating in May 2013 from Mystic, CT with a double major in Religious Studies and English with a concentration in writing, and a minor in Honors.  She is a member of three honor societies, Sigma Tau Delta, Theta Alpha Kappa, Delta Epsilon Sigma, along with being an active participant in the Choir programs and president of the Philosophy and Religious Studies Council. After graduation she plans to continue on for a Ph. D. in Religious Studies and Literature.

SHAWNEE  ZYSKOWKI is a junior, graduating in May 2013. She hails from Altamont, NY (and no you haven’t heard of it). She is an English major (also in Sigma Tau Delta), with a writing concentration (of course). Shawnee’s minors are in Honors, Catholic Studies, and is a part of the Catholic Social Thought program. Shawnee does a bunch of stuff she doesn’t feel like taking the time to write about. Her best friend is her cow, Raelin, who is a 5 year old roan shorthorn.
