Susan Mazer

Susan is a well-respected educator, author, and performer known especially for her intricate fingerstyle guitar playing. Prior to joining the faculty at Sacred Heart University, Susan taught music theory and ear training for seventeen years at The Hartford Conservatory. She is also the Director of Arts Programs at Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford. Susan is the author of twelve instructional books, including the best-selling book/ DVD series Guitar for the Absolute Beginner (Alfred Publishing). She was the first female guitar instructor to teach at the National Guitar Workshop and now teaches for the Crown of the Continent festival and workshop. You can find her guitar lessons online through Susan has been performing for the last 20 years and now plays with the Keith and Mazer Trio.

Degrees and Certifications

    She studied with Benji Aronoff, a protégé of Doc Watson, and received her Bachelor of Music degree at Hartt School of Music and Masters in Music at Boston University.
