The Department of Government offers a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, an Accelerated Bachelor's-Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, a Minor in Criminal Justice, as well as a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice. The Department of Government at Sacred Heart University is committed to and supports the goals of the University and the College of Arts and Sciences. Specifically, the Criminal Justice Program is committed to providing its students with the proficiency, flexibility and expertise to meet the needs of an ever-changing technological and culturally diverse society. Ethical issues and concerns pervade every aspect of the field of criminal justice. It is, therefore, incumbent upon the Department of Government to provide its students with the ability to effectively deal with these issues utilizing the fundamental moral principles of Judeo-Christian tradition. This includes obtaining a thorough knowledge of the various components of the field of criminal justice and how they relate to our increasingly diverse society. Upon completion of the Baccalaureate degree, graduates will be prepared to pursue graduate work in criminal justice, enter law school or obtain positions within the ever-expanding field of criminal justice.

Sacred Heart and Seton Hall Law to Offer 3+3 Bachelor’s and J.D. Program

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Sacred Heart and Seton Hall University School of Law are partnering on a new 3+3 program that will allow select students to earn a bachelor’s degree at Sacred Heart and a Juris Doctor at Seton Hall Law in six rather than the usual seven years. Students in this program will complete their undergraduate degree (in political science, global studies, history, sociology, English, criminal justice, foreign languages, psychology, chemistry or philosophy/theology/religious studies) in three years (90 credits). The remaining 30 undergraduate credits will be completed during the first year of law school at Seton Hall Law.

Sacred Heart University Expands Reduced Tuition Offer for Master's in Criminal Justice

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Sacred Heart University is rolling out a new benefit for police, correction, parole and probation officers throughout the tri-state area: a 50 percent tuition reduction for those who enroll in SHU’s master’s in criminal justice (MACJ) program. This offer is a sizable expansion from the University’s previous policy, which was limited to the Fairfield Police Department.
