Nursing Program Ranks Fourth in the State

News Story: March 20, 2017

Sacred Heart University’s registered nursing program has been ranked fourth in Connecticut by the online nursing service, RegisteredNursing.Org.

According to its website, Registered Nursing promotes excellence in nursing by providing nurses with the tools they need to succeed. They ranked the top nursing schools in Connecticut by “analyzing current and historical National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) pass rates, meaning the percentage of graduates who pass the exam out of 20 registered nursing programs in the state.” The NCLEX-RN is a standardized test candidates must pass to practice nursing.

Sacred Heart was ranked the fourth-best registered nursing program in the state out of the 20.

“We are honored to receive this rating,” said Mary Alice Donius, dean of the College of Nursing. “Our students work incredibly hard completing course work and clinicals. Guided by our dedicated faculty, students receive the necessary knowledge and experience for student success and a first-time pass rate for the College of Nursing consistently higher than state and national benchmarks.”
