Sacred Heart University was recognized for having one of the best college holiday events as well as having a multitude of other festive performances and gatherings.

Best College Reviews, an organization committed to providing students with the best guidance for making education decisions, ranked colleges and universities from across the nation based on the type of holiday events they host. SHU was recognized in the organization’s Best College Holiday Events listing for its choral concert: “A Choral Christmas Extravaganza: A Christmas Around the World.”

Each year SHU faculty and staff work hard to come up with a holiday event lineup that will delight students, their friends and families and the local community. There are two tree lightings, one on main campus and one at West Campus, a variety of choral concerts and band concerts, dance performances and musical events from outside entertainers.

“Not only do these events entertain and bring joy to our community, but they also allow people to reflect on what the holiday season and Sacred Heart’s mission is all about—coming together, being grateful and making a difference,” said Larry Wielk, dean of students. “These events put people in a good mood. They forget about their worries and stresses for a little bit, and perhaps they’ll carry that upbeat attitude with them for the rest of the season.”

Best College Reviews compiled the ranking based on number and variety of events, number of days events are offered, uniqueness of events and community involvement. For more information visit,
