Bridgeport filmmaker generating buzz for 'Charcoal'

"For Francesca Andre the essence of filmmaking is to find a meaningful story and then try to do it justice.

Worries about money are put in the back of her mind, she says, or the filmmaker would have never produced “Charcoal,” the short film bringing Andre a lot of attention. “Charcoal” has been screened with great success at a number of festivals, including the Silicon Valley African Film Festival in early fall and the Yonkers Film Festival last month in New York. The short was shown at the prestigious Albert Mayles Film Center in Harlem, N.Y. Prizes have been awarded to it at the Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival and the Women of African Descent Film Festival."
