Relay For Life 2016: Hope Around the World

Sacred Heart University will host its eighth annual Relay For Life fundraiser Friday, April 22, beginning at 3 p.m. in SHU’s William H. Pitt Center. The registration fee is $10 per person and anyone from the community is welcome to participate. To create or join a team, or to make a donation, please click here.

Relay For Life is an organized, overnight, fundraising walk-a-thon aimed to create awareness, celebrate survival and raise money for the American Cancer Society. This year’s theme is “Hope Around the World,” and the goal is to raise $50,000.

Relay For Life is made up of many different teams, consisting of friends, campus clubs, alumni, Greek Life organizations and more. Doors open at 3 p.m. The survivor dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed directly by the opening ceremony, survivors lap and then the caregivers lap. The luminaria ceremony begins at 9 p.m., and closing ceremonies are slated for 3 a.m. Throughout the 12 hours of the event, there will be games, activities, exercise and music.
